After graduating from Georgia State University with a degree in Business Administration in Real Estate, Dotan began his commercial real estate career in 2006 managing the Atlanta portfolios of Dewberry Capital, The Atlanta History Center, and Halpern Enterprises (including the iconic Amsterdam Walk), among other clients. He soon joined North American Properties as the developer began their turnaround of Atlantic Station. There, Zuckerman led the leasing strategy for the destination property’s 1.3 million square feet of retail space anchored by major tenants like Target, IKEA, Regal Cinema and Dillard’s. While on this project, Dotan successfully increased Atlantic Station’s occupancy by signing 40 new leases and doubling the NOI with new national and local retailers and chef-driven restaurants.
Zuckerman’s next challenge was the acclaimed Avalon development in Alpharetta, Georgia, where he was instrumental in the pre-leasing of more than 400,000 square feet of retail space in Phase I and Phase II. Avalon’s success would turn on best-in-class retail and especially unique restaurant experiences. When it opened, Avalon came to life with an unprecedented 98 percent occupancy rate and an acclaimed mix of tenants from Whole Foods to Apple and Anthropologie, Free People, Lululemon, and Williams Sonoma. Furthermore, Zuckerman strategically curated Avalon’s best-in-class, chef-driven restaurant mix, which many consider the cornerstone of the development. Upon stabilization, Atlantic Station Town Center and Avalon were sold for a combined profit of more than $350 million.
Next, he served as vice president of leasing for Fuqua Development in Atlanta with a focus on The Battery Atlanta, a $2 billion mixed-use development orbiting around the Atlanta Braves’ new Truist Park. Again, the development would become well-known as a world-class experience in food, retail, and entertainment. Most recently, Dotan led ground-up leasing for Columbia Development’s massive mixed-use destination in the North Carolina Research Triangle in Cary, NC, Fenton, a first-of-its-kind development in the state.
Today, Dotan’s exceptional retail and chef relationships, leasing track record, and creative vision comes to life in Zuckerman Co., a different kind of third-party brokerage. Here, Zuckerman and team approach leasing from an in-house perspective, are laser-focused on customer experience, placemaking, and helping truly special, brand-aligned, high-profile places come to life from the ground up.
An Atlanta native, Zuckerman spent his high school years in Israel and later served in the Israeli Defense Force before returning to his home city in 2006. He and his wife, Hilary, have two daughters, and he enjoys cycling and exploring the historic city of Charleston on weekends, where they now reside.
